Erik W. Ray, CCIM

Principal / Broker

Erik co-founded Independence with Ford in 2017 and is laser focused on site acquisition for his valued and loyal clients.  He has been active in the real estate industry since 2004 and has experience working in varied roles which includes his first real estate job installing property signs for Scott Brown Commercial.  He worked for Scott Brown while earning a Bachelors of Arts degree in Technical Communication from the University of North Texas in Denton which he obtained in 2008.  He was privileged to be trained in asset management and later enjoyed his time as a leasing agent while at Scott Brown.  After graduation, his life was enriched by spending time working with his father, Mark, at his family’s furniture business where he was the sales and procurement officer.  During that time, Erik was fortunate to work part-time for NAI Aldrich-Thomas.  In 2012, Erik began working full-time as a commercial leasing agent for a private, family portfolio in Temple, Texas where he was responsible for the leasing of over 1,000,000 square feet of office, industrial and retail property types.  It was during this time that he obtained his first Tenant Representation account.  Immediately preceding the formation of Independence, Erik was an associate broker for Charter Real Estate and enjoys meaningful relationships there.

Erik is an entrepreneur at heart so when the idea of Independence was conceived, he knew that to be different means to be focused on value at every touch in the process.   He is inspired by his clients and colleagues that are fighting for value and integrity in their respective industries.  He is also inspired by the devotion and love exhibited by his family and dear friends – especially his wife, Erin.  When not seeking value through real estate, Erik enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, Lily and Wayne.  He also enjoys being outdoors, traveling and is an avid reader.

Erik is a member of ICSC, CCIM Designee, NAR, TAR, TBBOR,  Erik is also a Leadership Temple graduate and former board member of the Rotary Club of Temple.
